It’s easy for us to forget that no matter where we live or what we are doing, we are just a slip, a crash, or a fall away from serious trouble if we don’t have at least some basic survival knowledge.

Today’s guest Leon Pantenburg is a freelance journalist, photographer and wilderness enthusiast, who doesn’t claim to be a so-called survival “expert” or a “survivalist. Rather, he teaches simple common sense survival techniques that the average person living in the city, the suburbs, the country, or wherever, can use to keep a unforeseen situation from turning into a life-threatening disaster. In addition, he works with the Boy Scouts in his area as a wilderness trainer.

Why does he do this? Because when he was working as a newspaperman and journalist for three decades, covering search and rescue, sheriff’s departments, floods, forest fires and other natural disasters and outdoor emergencies, Leon discovered that many people died unnecessarily when simple, common sense might have changed the outcome.

Leon shares some of his common sense survival wisdom on today’s show that can give you and your family the freedom to turn what could be a potentially life-threatening situation into just an inconvenience.
